Inspired by the England rugby team’s dramatic win in Marseilles last weekend, quick minds and quick hands at The O2 have moved to host a feast of rugby on Saturday 13th October by broadcasting the England versus France semi-final showdown live on a giant LED screen inside The O2.
If you’re not in Paris this weekend, then make sure you head down to The O2 where TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith will be hosting the biggest gathering of fans outside of Paris, with an electric atmosphere to match. With the chorus of ‘Swing Low…’ reverberating around The O2, it is truly going to be the place to watch England take on their Gallic rivals.
"This initiative is another great example of the ingenuity of the events sector to capitalise on opportunities and deliver time sensitive events, and further evidence of savvier marketers using live event marketing to engage with their audiences" says Events Industry Alliance, Group Chief Executive, Trevor Foley.
Up to 5000 fans are expected to watch the match at The O2. Furthermore, in celebration of England’s current world championship status the first 2003 beers are absolutely free!
Live coverage of the semi - final will be broadcast on a massive LED screen with pre - match build up and exclusive footage from ex England international Austin Healey. Experience the tension and exhilaration as England try to get to a Rugby World Cup final for the second time in four years. With all the rugby action, clips from France and plenty of free beer this is THE ONLY place for fans to unite and watch this crucial match. Just make sure you get there in good time to soak up what will be an unforgettable atmosphere.
“This is an amazing opportunity for England fans to come together to celebrate the win against Australia and watch the next chapter in England’s roller-coaster World Cup,” said Mark Durden-Smith, host for the event. “This is a great alternative to actually being at the England v France game and the scale of The O2 is just perfect for creating that all important electric atmosphere.”
